The gauge comes with a trim surround and small binnacle for horizontal surface mounting. So to put in dash you just cut a hole the correct size, push the trim surround in and then push the gauge in. It will all lock in with the clips on it. Not done mine yet, but looks pretty simple - although thinking of putting mine on the top of the dash in the centre so both driver and passenger can see it.

For those who have installed the check temp.........Does the green backlighting match the factory dash and radio lighting pretty well? Does the backlight dim when the vehicle lights are switched on?

Oh, and can anyone tell me what the size of the outer bezel is? I think the cutout is 33.5 x 50, but I'm wondering what the finished dimension is.

Fitted mine on Monday. To my eyes, the green is pretty close to the LR green illumination. I would say it is a better match than the Phillips DAB stereo I have also fitted, and that has a choice of 3 greens!

The backlight does dim when the vehicle lights are switched on (assuming that you connect the wire to the illumination on one of the other switches).

I fitted mine on top of the dash using the supplied housing so it can be seen by driver and passenger. Looks quite good.

The GPS mount does not hide it (despite how it appears in the photo).

I got mine from Conrad Electronic in the UK http://shop.conrad-uk.com/car/car-equipmen...54714.html but they only deliver to the UK. Their International arm (in Germany) says they do not deliver to the USA because of the insurance costs.

Afternoon all and I hope somebody can help me.

I have just purchased a Check Temp time unit after reading some of the threads on the forum. I have never used any forum before but you all seem really helpful so thought I would give it a go. I have read through all the instructions, another new experience, one probably not to be repeated again... Laughing So my question do I need to install the relay shown and if so has anyone any more info. the unit has the following

fused live (Red)
Earth /Neutral (Black)
Power from ignition (Purple)
Power from lights (Yellow)
ext temp sensor
int temp sensor

I then have a Grey, Blue and Orange to a Relay

Blue (C)
Grey (NC)
Orange (NO)

Do I need to use the last 3 if I am not connecting to the Air Con?

Any help really appreciated.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

Welcome Jackl.

If you are just using the standard Check Temp features (not the climate control stuff) you do not need the relay
and you only need to connect the four wires you first mention and the sensors.
