By the way, nolden case quality seems better.....

If you look closer the JWS, in my opinion, the company have quality problems and not all pieces was made with the same precision (eg different beam pattern)

The evo ones suffers from the SS contact but a good anticorrosion grease solve the problems.

I don't have any vested interest apart from the fact I own a set of J W Speakers and wish I didn't. Interestingly my second quote in one of my previous posts was written by yourself was it not confirming there were a limited number with issues?

Regularly inspect your lights including taking them out periodically would be my advice and then you may be able to deliver concrete solid evidence of their improved quality yourself.

Thumbs Up

I confirm everything Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Also my EVO had corrosion in the areas of contact between the case and the ring and the condensation issue.

Another problem was the flickering effect just after the engine start up. true that disappear after a few seconds, but over the time could be cause of problems to the LED string.

Personally I think that the Nolden outweigh the JWS EVO2.

The evo 2 have a pattern that, with the hi-beam selected, illuminate more nearby the "nose" of the defender but Nolden "shoot" at a greater distance (imho, better HI-BEAM).

but this image amplifies this effect and, in my opinion, does not reflect reality

When "Low beamed" Nolden and EVO2 not show significant differences, may be JWS has a spot well illuminated very closer to the car but with a not well illuminated area just next .

Last but not least I noticed that these effects (such as photo effect) are very sensitive to the adjustment of the headlights, are sufficient 2 or 3 degrees more or less of difference of inclination. May be related tho the sharper pattern of the LED headlamps Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Daniele, when you say that "Personally I think that the Nolden outweigh the JWS EVO2."...

I presume that this means that you have already tried them, yes?

If correct, as you have the SVX front,I presume you have tested the EVO2 with front position light. Since the EVO2 with front position light also has integrated DRL, I would be interested to see pictures of this EVO2 with 1. only the DRL on, and 2. with the position lights on. In the last case I presume that the DRL turn off, and from pictures seen it seems that the DRL and the position light are one and the same (top half circle) LED unit. I guess that it probably means that with the lights off and DRL on, the entire half circle is lit up as DRL, and that with position lights on, only part of the same half circle stays on as position light. ????
By the way, I never saw a picture posted anywhere of how the Nolden position lights look when on. Think I never even saw a picture of the Nolden with position lights in the first place. I know a few Defenders here in Geneva with Nolden, but they all have the standard front, so with separate position light. Anybody has such pictures and can post?
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Pickles, that is probably not a Hella, but a vintage Marchal light. You can find those on the internet.

Don't think so Eric, Definitely a Hella,.....unless you have actually seen a Marchal with the writing on the lens as described?

Don't follow the logic here!

You're implying that because they are fitted to the last Defenders they are the best???

Is that because they are fitted to a vehicle that doesn't rust?
Is it fitted to a vehicle that is going out of production?
Is fitted to a modern vehicle with a pants alarm system
Is fitted to a vehicle with a dubious build quality?

Or did LR just get a great group buy and found them at a mega cheap price.

I know. It's amazing. Eric's rose-tinted glasses also seem to be preventing him from remembering actually getting his EVOs working properly in the first place.

I remember this because I replied to his appeals for high-powered diodes at the time.
