I was rather worried about the battery thing but not much I can do about it now.

egr is disabled and egr cooler at exhaust end now blanked and all appears to be working well.

Just need to see about either removing the cooler all together or replacing the bracket the supports the cooler off the engine near the egr valve.

I would make a point of finding the bracket before it shorts something or rubs through something , to be honest I wouldn't have driven it until I had found it

why bother removing cooler completely , just leave it there as there is coolant pipes to it that would need joining up , ok not hard to do but why make work for yourself

I'm very conscious of bolt and bracket but need to use def .....

like you say might as well leave cooler in place......but removing it would make def lighter (and hence faster and more economical Very Happy ).....and would also look / be a little less cluttered under the bonnet.

make it less cluttered ! Rolling with laughter its down the back anyway , not in the way of anything really

also if you remove and you fitted one of the thin blanking plates chances are it will blow as there made to be pinched up in between the 2 flanges of the cooler and manifold , you would need to get a thicker blanking plate made to make sure it tightens up tight to flange , a thin plate will just bow as tightened and it will blow

also if you want to remove map if you need to go back to standard in case you have a problem , you need to fit it all back on then

Munch90 - you forgot to mention my improvements in performance through weight reduction.

joking aside you are right.

that said I do have a rather fat / heavy duty blanking plate so if I can find a nice though pipe for the MAP sensor to sit in I may just go for it (assuming I can get the stuff to sort the coolant pipes etc.).

many thanks.

and off to see if I can get a replacement cooling bracket in the interim before something breaks.
