There are a few on here that have had/got Ribs

Ribcraft or Redbay with yamaha outboard. These boats will take more weather than you will!!

Curveball....
We had a 5m brig with the usual big outboard. Brilliant boat and very quick etc etc, however launching still requires a couple of people who know what they're doing, a fair amount of water and a capable tow vehicle. Therefore we also got a jet ski which is hugely more managable, you can basically walk it into the water. Still seats 3 comfortably and can take a load of stuff in the dry locker. 215bhp means 60+ mph if you're into that kind of stuff! And ours is the 'wake' edition with raised tow pole, cruise control, programmable acceleration, board holder etc. 215bhp means it'll tow easily as much as a rib really, donuts, multiple skiers etc no problem. We're not speed freaks or yobs, just decided that a jet ski is very accessible and simple to run/maintain/drive/tow using. Personally Id be looking for a solid hull if its purely for pleasure.
I like ribs and using them for work when there other peoples but wouldnt want to own one unless you changed it regularly. You'll get a better return on something like a boston whaler in the long term to. Just another curve ball to add.  Defender puma dormobile camper |

Boston whaler.....thats looks like a Good shout. One for sale on e bay for 34k and two for sale for 3k! Looking for something in between! Must admit the inflatable element of a rib worries me.

Have a look on Apollo duck theres plenty for sale on there if you do a search
Lots of ribs seem to weather badly and look awfull very quickly if there not looked after, at least something like that its more forgiving, and are good sea boats. about a 16'+ ideally Id say Defender puma dormobile camper |

I'd recommend seeing a few different options before you buy. We've had speedboats, ribs and now a jet ski and each have their merits, quirks, charms and challenges. Each really suits a different application and sometimes just seeing one is enough to know which suits best Cheers, David

we had boats for years from small day boats to big charter fishing boat , really choosing a boat is about what your going to use it for
and weather your going to sit at anchor or just speed about , is what hull you want planing or displacement and how much freeboard you want only thing I would say about ribs is the amount of room you lose from the tubes |
