Rolling Eyes Well in most cases it is the truth' go and look at most 90's Ribs compared to similar age dories and launches and In most cases i know which ones will have weathered better

Dont get me wrong I love ribs for diving and rescue boats, but id never have one if not, best thing to do is view the options like David says as we'll all be biased and with boats theres a lot of good choice Defender puma dormobile camper

Yes I have a cobra rib 7.5M, lots of fun. Lots of ribs around but huge choice depending upon budget. They are generally better at handling bad and rough weather than same size hard boats. Depends what you want to do as some are commercial orientated and some more leisure orientated.

If budget is an issue then better to look for a bigger rib that needs some TLC and work done than a smaller one that is nearly new and ready to go. As you will grow with the rib and if you choose one that is too small then you will soon want a bigger one. For Uk waters a few miles off shore use I would recomend minimun length of say 5Metres, a 7.5meter rib is perfect for coastal and gives you some extra confidence if it gets rougth but maybe slightly a pain for towing at times due to the size.

Whatever you buy make sure you look closely at the wiring and pay attention to wiring to the batteries and switches etc before you venture out.

Autumn and winter coming so perhaps good time to buy so you work on the boat over autumn and winter.

Check out the 'rib forum' for good advice .
