Today had to phone the RSPCA about a cruel dog owner
I have been working in Manchester this week and got home to my cottage in Wales this morning. A neighbouring property along the lane has a long legged Staffordshire Bull Terrier, that I was told by another neighbour that over the last few days the dog has been kept tied up in the back garden which is flagged. The dog has no water and is yelping constantly the heat is incredible and the poor dog is panting and in obvious distress.

The dog is always kept outside with no shelter, but obviously because of the heat the dog must be going through hell. I climbed over the gate and took one look at the dog who was tied with a chain that was little over a meter in length, he was panting like crazy and looked very distressed and thought right that’s it I am phoning the RSPCA before this dog dies of heat stroke.

I cannot understand why people have dogs and who do not look after their welfare.

Still waiting for the RSPCA to turn up but as my address is fairly remote I suppose it will take a while.
In the mean time we have given the dog a washing up bowl full of cold water which we have pushed under the high fence with a stick and I had a large cardboard box that a freezer came in and we have thrown that over the fence as well to offer the poor thing some shelter and shadow. The trouble is we cannot get to the dog without breaking in. We are also a little worried about the dogs temperament especially as it is in such a distressed state so do not wish to get to close to it, at least the dog now has water which we saw him lap up like there was no tomorrow.
Hopefully the RSPCA will turn up soon.

My only hope and this may sound horrible but if the owners have visited the beach again today i hope they get really bad sunburn, that would teach them.

I know this sounds horrible, but did you take any pictures / video before you gave it water and shelter? You then have something to show the RSPCA.

Just nipped out to take a few pics and the RSPCA van has turned up.

The RSPCA officer is appalled and the first thing he did was take some pictures through the gap in the fence. He has told me he has to phone the police because the owners are out and he wants to take the dog away, but to do so he has to force the locked gate and he cannot do that without a police officer present, fortunately the police are pretty quick to respond around here.
As soon as the police turn up I will be out to give them the full story.

May be worth calling the boys in blue to report in case there is any grief from the owner, they might hurry the RSPCA along for you.

Well just to give you all an update a police woman turned up and the RSPCA guy forced the gate and used a lasso type of thing to hold the dog while the police woman unhooked the chain and the dog was taken away.

The dog seemed very well behaved but looked very frightened and as he was put in a cage in the back of the RSPCA van he looked really sad and vulnerable and he was covered in dried dog poo and I felt a tear well up in my eye or it might have been a bit of dust.

The RSPCA posted a card through the letterbox saying they had removed the dog and the Police officer said she would visit the property later as well.

All in all it has been quite a day
