I'd use graphite powder rather than greases or lubricants as they can collect dust and muck that stops the lock working where as graphite powder is dry but just very fine

I agree with that. I originally tried a silicone grease and wd40 .. the result was i couldn't turn it at all. I'd try the graphite powder. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

My ignition key lock sometimes has also äcted a bit difficult. Not a problem to put the key in, but then a bit of a struggle sometimes to get the key to turn to position 1...
So just greased the lock with graphite powder tonight, and all is back to normal. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Hmmm this has reared its ugly head again in a bigger way now, i can't get the key out of the ignition now at all. Tried WD40, seems stuck on the final out point, fan and radio still powered.

Anything i can do myself over the weekend ?

Also can anyone put a Ball Park Figure on having it replaced?
