Ipad advice
Now office is ipad I think it's finally time to get one. There's lots of advice on here about brackets and cases which I will be looking into.

However it's the purchasing of one that I can't work out.

Do I just buy one and tether to my phone, but the battery is already running out during the day.

Do I buy one and get a SIM card
Or get one one contract to me this seems expensive.

Then last questions what network?

get one that can fit a sim card, because those are the only ones which have a built in gps system.

Didn't know that. I will get a sim one then because I want to mount it in the defender for mapping.

Indeed, the built-in GPS in the WiFi-Cellular type is OK, however you do not need a sim card if you plan to use navigation apps with built in maps. Cheers, Vincent

^^^ A wifi only version does NOT have GPS! Then you you need also a bluetooth GPS receiver. Better buy a WiFi+Cellular (thus with the build-in GPS) type... Cheers, Vincent

Get down to an apple store IMO.

Have a play, ask questions etc - they're the best staff of any store hands down. Cheers, David

just took this off the apple website

"Apple doesnt integrate GPS on the Wi-Fi only models, but you can still locate yourself and use Location Services only if you are connected through Wi-Fi. The cellular + Wi-Fi models are more precise on GPS as they use cellular signals to pinpoint accuracy of your location."

i use an iPad air and mini without any issues

My advice just to balance the equation is to not buy one..... Look at all the options as there is comparable hardware or better depending on use for less money. I have an iPad with the mobile /GPS antenna but I prefer my Nexus 7 v2 for navigation as GPS is far better on it compared to the iPad. Just my opinion thought you may like to know Whistle 90 & Wolf

Depending on the size you get, I have the Rammount clip in bracket with suction mount in the Defender for using with Memory Map and Tomtom software and a Logitech "keyboard" case for doing lots of typing on 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX

I have the Rammount clip in bracket with suction mount in the Defender

Is this mounted on the windscreen? Doesn't it block too much of the view?
