Is this a common problem with Defenders? I'm having a hard time getting the car leak free and as of today a local shop I visit regularly discovered both sides of the roof has cracks. I'm actually a bit shocked this happens on a car less than a year old.
Maybe Mike@Landrover has an idea what happened? Already send some photos to my dealer but willing to send you full size photos for investigation if you wish. In the meantime I keep on smiling trying to avoid turning into a grumpy old man.

Thanks for the reply.
The strange thing is the panel doesn't seem to be cut in a straight line either. There is a cut out if you look at the lower part of the panel. I've been looking at a couple of 5-10 year old Defenders which all looked fine. |

Mike, I am surprised that you are surprised (!) since this seems to be a common feature on Defender rooves, although admittedly this is more extreme than some.
If I get the chance I'll take a photo of my '07 DC which is rather similar. |

Friggin leaks - take it back, and keep doing so till all leaks are fixed
The widely accepted (by some) statement "they all do that" doesn't wash They cannot sell a product that isn't fit for purpose |

Those are shocking pictures of course, and frankly never have seen something like that. One question, in the Netherlands most (if not all) new Defenders get their roof amended for tax reasons. Heightening the roof by what is it, 3 or 4 cm?, means that dealers are really doing some serious amendments on the roof. Could that cracked seam possibly be a result of dealer manipulation, a bit more careless than they should have done possibly? Eric, that's something you'll only find with the 90 and 110.
My Defender has been registered as a 'truck' with removable top. The crew cab is not part of the load space, so I don't need the roof to be raised.  |
