Mantec Snorkel query
Has anyone like me had issues with the TD5 Mantec snorkel letting in water while simply driving on the motorway?

Whilst driving up to Wales at the weekend i discovered that my snorkel was letting in water whilst driving in the rain. We had to disconnect the pipe at the bottom of the airbox and dry the sodden airfilter out! When we arrived at the destination we re-assembled the snorkel and no issues when wading through deep water.

You can get it if there is a lot of spray about. Only noticed it once, but that was heavy rain and motorway speeds. May be one of the problems with a raised air intake not a snork, as they probably expect you not to seal the drain points.

Is the safari any better?

I think he means the mantec plastic jobby, because I've gotten the lack of power at motorway speeds and lots of spray as well, wish I bought a different one Crying or Very sad Tdci 110 DC

Water
Strange you should ask, a friend has had a lot of issues with the plastic jobby investing water on the motorway. He had one of the older type Mantecs, which was fine..

Take it off and seal it. I put lots of that black sealer round mine, don't think you can rely just on the foam. If you have already tried to seal it I don't have a plan b.

These snokels are like fitting a big bore to your nova so my better half says. She thinks they are a waste of money, pah what do these wife's know eh.

The problem here is the water comes in from the vortex holes at the top and the wing mount has extra butyl tape, so it certainly doesn't come in from there! Funnily i have written 2 emails to Mantec and they haven't got back to me. I must be right in saying there is a fault with the plastic jobby as they can't be bothered to reply!
