PUMA DIPSTICK
G'Day from Perth, Australia
I have a 2007 Puma 130.
Went to check the engine oil level recently and noticed that the end of the dipstick which has the max/min marks was missing. Some how the end has broken off and fallen down into maybe the sump.
Has anybody else had the same thing happen?
Cost of a new Dipstick Aust $70.00 about 40 Pounds.
Jim

I've heard of one other instance, so it's very rare.

How are you planning to get it out? --

I have heard of this a few times now- , make sure it is in the sump (poke it through with something long and thin) and then drain the oil and it will come out - if not you will then have to remove the sump (easy).

Then re-attach it properly (not like LR).

Thanks Naks and Glyn for replying.
The Landrover specialist over here has assured me that it can do no damage to the engine, however its on my mind that maybe it could cause a problem later on.
I think I will try what Glyn has suggested. Drain the oil and if that doesn't work, drop the sump.

Naks I notice you have an interest in Astronomy. I have an interest in telling time and direction using the Sun and stars.

The other thing you could try is to attach a small magnet to a new dipstick and then try and get the broken piece out this way.

You will just need to make sure that the magnet does not detach and end up in the sump Thumbs Up --
