TD to 200TDi and now to a petrol engine?
last year I bought a 1986 90 that was converted to an original 200TDi. So the engine in the 90 is an 11L engine.

Now legislation has changed and next year my previously tax free 90 will cost EUR 2100,00 in road tax per annum. (I know Holland sucks!)

Only way out is to convert the 90 to a petrol engine, than the costs for roadtax will be a lot less.

What engine would you recommend? A V8? The older 4 cyl ones are not really capable are they? any other suggestions?

Anyone want to swap?

I had a mate with a 2.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol in a series 3 that had been tuned up a bit, it went very well and sounded like a sewing machine compared to any diesel, not great on fuel though as it only averaged about 18mpg DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

I'm in exactly the same situation DLK I would urge you to wait with the conversion until the legislation definitely comes into effect.

I will probably have to sell the landy though as the petrol conversion, high road tax and petrol prices and consumption will ruin me. Big Cry Scaling the real deal.

I know... It's an unfair deal that was made upon false information. But I do fear we will have to deal with it.

I will either sell the 90 to someone in England or convert it to a petrol car.

last year I drove less than 1500 km's with it so fuel costs will be much higher but do able. The thought of a big V8 is quite nice. The thought of sparkplugs, dizzy's, and all that crap isn't.. Big Cry

Multi port injection? If i guessed it right, what does it mean? That you can convert a diesel to petrol? Scaling the real deal.
