TC, ABS and Handbrake Lights on Defender Puma
Hi,
i Had this issue a while ago and it is back...

The TC, ABS and Handbrake Lights come on every now and then...
i Suspect the magneto being dirty on one of the rear wheels...

How do i get to it?
Want to see if i can clean them up but don't really know what to look for.
Also how do i remove the ABS sensor? Can i just gently pull them with pliers?

There is a very handy Workshop Manual link which was posted by our Italian friend Dgardel, no doubt the information you seek will be in there, reading through your previous history it looks like you've had a few of months trouble free after the last sensor clean. ^^^Very welcome. From your's and fellow members posts from your country I realise that visits to the dealers can often be quite a trek and as in the UK standard of service can be sketchy at times.

Yip, the dealers can get very dodgy... There are luckily 3 LR specialists that know their stuff but i think we pay a bit more for parts down here.

i Need to get an idea of how to fix this kind of simple stuff, don't want to get stuck in the bush and then it is easy to fix...

No update how you got on but experienced exactly the same symptoms as yourself just this last weekend. See thread link previously posted for update.

Basically I located the fault by disconnecting the ABS modulator yellow connector under the driver's seat and carrying out insulation/resistance checks on the sensors. There are two pairs of white cables and two pairs of green. White cables are the left hand sensors, right are the green. The resistance value should be according to the workshop manual 980 ohms plus minus 50 ohms although realistically I had readings of about 1180 ohms per sensor. The insulation check revealed a short circuit to earth on one of the sensors. I guess you must be sorted but interested to know what the issue was.

Interestingly you will also get exactly the same symptom if you lose supply or pull the 30 amp green blade fuse in the fusebox adjacent to the modulator. May be worth checking the supply out? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Hi,

Actually it was not sorted but my Landy got written of in a accident.
Rear ended another car and although the damage was not that bad it was more than 75% of the value and then it is a write off.

Yip, no mayor injuries. Just broke a little bone in my hand but nothing serious.

The bumper took quite a hit and the front left stuffed.
Was not driving fast so that probably also helped.

At this moment i got myself a bike and still looking for a new car...
