I forgot to say that the TC light was illuminated on my dashboard when the 2 front wheels were spinning.

I didn't notice the speed on the speedo but the front wheels were spinning fast.

The TC system is independent front to rear axles on the earlier models, not sure if the new bosh system talks to all four wheels together.

The other day I had to get into fast moving traffic so I floored it in 1st high and the TC light was on for short while if that helps. The road was greasy and it was in heavy rain. BM52

My friend has a 2011 110 and he said that with the diff lock open the TC system will take what all four wheels are doing into account, so not just what the other wheel on the same axle is doing. That is, if would compare the speed of the front wheels to that of the rear wheels and, if required, brake the front wheels to send torque to the back. Rather like locking the centre diff. I suppose.

I believe this was not the case with earlier models, though I have no idea what year the change took place.
