Just for information, when you remove the old intercooler, the inside is clean or the internal surface are in some way covered from dirty/greasy/substances from exhaust re-circulation that can hit his cooling performance ?

I was surprised by how clean mine was esp on the intake side.

There was a bit of grime on the outlet (manifold) side but it was minimal. More grime on the outside around the hose connector than in the intercooler itself.

Laughing Yes you do really want one ......believe me! Thumbs Up

It really transformed my Defender in combination with the remap.

Just wondering what the result would be just fitting a bigger intercooler & not having a remap??

Waste of time?? I need a remap

Any increase of MPG??

Well.....I had the remap without the intercooler and since installing the intercooler the Defender is transformed.

Thus.....the same map without intercooler was worse than that same map with intercooler.

That leeds me to believe that it will also make a difference with the standard map.

I haven't yet worked out my new consumption but it does seem to have improved.

I have decat, remap, intercooler and I believe THIS IS how the Defender was meant to be...........

I have a larger intercooler with a standard map and there is without a doubt a huge difference. There is definitely more torque when travelling up hills and better acceleration from 1st gear.
We however live in a hot climate so I think the differences for us will be larger than if you live in a colder/cooler climate.

Because of the above, I cannot wait for our road/off road trip next month........

Nothing fancy as we are staying local for a change but basically - JHb - Calvina - explore the R355/klien karoo - Ceres - Gordons Bay - Mossel bay - maybe Wild coast and then back to JHB.

In Total we are doing around 17 mountain passes. 600 kms of dirt roads and 2500 kms of tar road Very Happy
