The kitchen build is going along well with the last finishing coats being applied so more pictures soon.
In the mean time the sink has arrived and thoughts have turned to the pull out sink unit. Here are some sketchup images of the various folding bits and you can see the idea of the burner flipping out of the sink for that morning cup of coffee. Today the old heavy pine kitchen came out and the new carcass went in.
Just like that .... This is going to be really tight fitting this in but i think will greatly enhance the useability of this space. First off i made a recessed base to sit in between the runners as the sink needs to sit down as low as it can possibly go. Click image to enlarge this was done in ash, domino jointed together for strength. the plan is now to mock up the top unit in ply to see how it all goes together Click image to enlarge what i have found is that the sink needs to be altered to get the tap connection accessible. here are the quick release water fittings that i am using - originally made for cooling computers Click image to enlarge over the weekend i will have a test install into the trailer and see what needs to be altered. the mock up has come up with one idea. there is a large storage area, where the sink isn't wich is just the right size for the instant water heater / shower unit. Looks really good, how is the water heater going to be mounted? You woodwork looks far superior to mine however I did end up changing the cooker unit from wood to Aluminium as I found that it started to swell when it got wet from the sink etc and as I just used friction to hold it in it became difficult to open.

The sink is from a company called Can. You can get from caravan suppliers although it isnot cheap. And I had to alter a fair bit. But on the plus side hopefully it will fit.
I think I will hand the water heater on the end. I had an idea of flipping it up on the lid bit but that got a bit too close to the tent fit comfort. So it will be stored in the pull out drawer, taken out and connected when needed. I plan to have the sink and gas ring plumbed in fir cold and then plus in the hot supply wen camped. That will allow the enroute coffee break without much fuss. Cc |

Well no kitchen area will be complete without a pull out bar.
This is going to replace the metal box over the sink unit. The idea will be to have a double extension pull out unit with cups and glasses in font and the cocktail shaker behind. today the sink unit goes together.

with the carcass put together it is time to laminate up the top.
here are three shots showing the end which is glued up with evostik, left to dry to the touch. hen using a couple of dowels you can position the laminate before starting to firmly stick it using a metal roller to make sure it is fully adhered. I have been wathching this with interest as I am doing a similar unit to fit in the back of the 110 DC, all be it a LOT less involved due to the comparable skill levels! I ordered my laminate yesterday so have picked up a good tip about the dowel. BTW...Are those Veritas planes in the background? If so.....nice  |
