Looking at this picture.

Could you not add the webasto water pipes by plumbing it in series with the pipe that run from No 1 to 'to heater valve' text? but add it before the T piece?

would there not be coolant flowing in there the whole time the engine was running regardless of the heater position? rather than between the T and the heater valve where flow rate is determined by the heater position?

i presume the coolant is running Right to left? ie out the back of the block to the top of the rad?

Plumbing the Webasto like your description, you will lose part of the heat, that you can use into the cabin heater, because you drive the water to the cabin heater AND the EGR gas exchanger....... Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

twin pickup in Puma 110 tank

in the end i decided to do this rather than use one pickup to feed two webastos so as not to have the potential problem of a lack of fuel supply issue. Cheers

presumably you could plumb into the heater vale return pipe instead of the input pipe thus heating the engine block first then the heater matrix?, Cheers

don't see any reason why not, but on a puma, the hot/cold adjuster actually adjusts the flow of coolant through the internal heater rad

agreed, the point being it will heat the engine first and then the heater matrix assuming the heater temp knob is turned off cold

rather than the heater matrix first Cheers

just to be clear, it probably does not matter which side of the matrix pipes you fit the feed, if the knob is set to blue, the inside will not get warm

^^ thats my understanding too. i dont want the inside warm, i just want an engine pre warmer. but as i understand it if its plumbed into the the actual heater valvle block if the heater is off (ie on cold) then the coolant wont flow through the webasto?

i intend to fit it between the egr return and the return from to the engine.

ie between the T piece that goes to the engine coming from the heater, and egr return, that way the webasto will have flow regardless of what the heater valve is on. Cheers

Was about to post something similar. If you install on the input or output of the heater matrix you would have no flow when the heater is set to cold.

Don't know where the thermostat valve is on the Puma but it may also restrict flow through the engine until the coolant reaches a predefined temperature on the engine side of the thermostat. Where you plan on installing the webasto does it have continuous flow regardless of the thermostat ? 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

no, the pipe to the heater is a 3 way....

1. into the flow controller (the hot/cold knob)
2. out from the matrix
3. out from the matrix by-pass

so, with the heater on cold the water will by pass the matrix and flow straight back out via the return pipe

have a closer look at DG's pics..

On my 2010 puma, i have plumbed into the "in" flow into the matrix and when set to blue the water bypasses the matrix

James - give me a call if you'd like to discuss

cheers BP man, didnt know that, so it makes little odds which pipes are used then.

may well go with the outlet of the heater valve still as it would then go direct to the engine first, plus there is a bleed screw at the top of the pipe, lastly its where LR install them from what i have seen. Cheers
