Are there any additives which remove water accumulated in the fuel tank & engine?
Are they proven to make a difference? In layman terms please. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I love reviving old threads Smile

I've tried 2-stroke before but was never that convinced. However, recently I've been using Miller's for the last three tanks and it is astonishing how much quieter the engine is Thumbs Up

But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

wynns dry fuel

used it quite a few times , good or bad hard to say really as with any additive, but had few cars in with bit of water in tank used to drain as much as possible then add one of these , never had one back with any more water problems

one car model used to split breather hose and rain would get in tank , we used it on them , like I said seemed to work as never had one back , so could do its job ????

what fuel additive is best to use.?

Hi All

WHY?

I have read several threads on this and other forums about what additives to use but why do you use them?

Is there any actual NEED for an additive, personally I never use them as I believe that the fuel is fit for purpose and the Land Rover dealer sees no reason for people to use them so are you just throwing more good money into your tank for any good reason?

Fair point fuel should be fit for purpose and fuel sold in the UK generally is. Diesel sold in the UK has to comply with British Standard / EN 590 (Low Sulphur Diesel 1, 000 ppm) and with a cetane rating of 49.
So UK fuel is pretty good, that does not mean however that we cannot make it better.

That’s why fuel additives such as Miller's Diesel EcoMax is beneficial because it enhances combustion, it has detergents that help clean fuel lines, pumps and injectors, coupled with lubricants that help with fuel pump efficiency. It also increases Cetane rating of diesel by up to 5 numbers which in turn provides improvements to vehicle performance.

So you may ask why fuel suppliers do not sell this type of improved fuel at the pumps, well they do, at least at some pumps if you look, but this improved fuel comes at a price. Economically it is cheaper per MPG to add the additive to ordinary diesel, and if you do not only are you getting better performance and marginally more MPG, but you are also reducing emissions, because improved combustion and engine cleanliness drastically reduces emissions of hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide.
