New legislation led design for Europe and America, while the traditional hand built Land Rover with a pre Puma engine and gearbox will be hand built in India for other markets. This Indian built version will not be importable into Europe as it will not comply with the myriad of legislative directives that will emanate from Brussels.Nice to know that the vehicle we know and love will still be clanking around somewhere. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Presumably you'll be able to ship one in and rebuild an old one using all the parts though?
Not that I'd suggest using an old chassis number for a new car of course. Laughing

Doubt it as the no nonsense basic engine fitted would not meet the full of nonsense up to date regulations we will have to live by. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I think you missed my point.
The 300TDI doesn't meet any current requirements, but you can still fit a new 300TDI engine to a 1994 Defender.

If the product was cheap enough I wondered if they'd arrive and be built on old vehicles as "restorations".
Effectively a new Defender on a 20 year old reg number.

I think what you meant to say was "effectively a new Defender with a huge, polluting, noisy and thoroughly gorgeous v8 on a pre 1973 chassis" Whistle
