TD5 up until last night would start in an instant.. However this morning it took 3 long bursts and much pumping of accelerator befor it wheeled into life... Eventually settling down into regular tick ...

thanks...might have in car paranoia not sure if following the rebuild I can hear a whining rumbling ..or I just have not driven it for a long time and got used to the silence of a eurobox.

10 min job..never seen such minging oil...stank as well..bit dissapointed as previous owner swore it had not been under water!

noticed a small drip patch under the rear the other day...looked like was coming from the diff oil seal..so I drove home 200 miles at 50mph with serious in car paranoia ...next day pressure washed und ...

Thanks chaps will check the piggy bank for the bits and try and do it myself. I am reasonably able with spanners but will be first. Looks straight forward.. Any thing tips cheats I need to know?

I think the seals are knackered.. Um..does this mean the diff is not lubricated?

My TD5 starts on the button...and if on the flat or pointing downhill it pulls away nice and tidy...however if parked pointing up any slope ..it takes a while to pull away..similar to a petrol engine ...
