Car alarm phone alerts
I'm after a device that sends phone notifications if the vehicle alarm goes off. Rather than install a new alarm system, I have come across a number of plug-and-play OBD devices that provide live tracking and alarm alerts. Does anybody have any experience with such devices? Many thanks

I got an OBD plug in tracker from these guys on eBay over 3 years ago. It still works perfectly and costs around £40 for the annual subscription and access to their web based tracking site.

The OBD version just plugs into the OBD port and uses minimal power.

It isn't interfaced to the car alarm, but you can set a geofence, so if the car leaves the pre defined area on the map you get an sms text and email alert warning you. You can also do live tracking through their website.

I have no affiliation to them, other than being a happy customer.

I guess the downside to an OBD version is that it is vulnerable as it is easy for thieves to find. especially on a Defender if they are going for the OBD port anyway Sad I replaced the OBD port on my Defender with a dummy OBD socket and plugged in an OBD extension lead to re-route the live OBD port up into the dashboard area.

The cheapo trackers on amazon have alarm options too. Mine's not wired in, but has options to send alerts on door opening & movement. It can even turn off the fuel pump and listen to the thieves.
