Halfords £3.99 bulb change fee is looking more and more appealing. No more swearing, sweating and knuckle cutting trying to bend into virtually impossible positions.

How much is car in for service and MOT. MOT first, fail then fix during service? 😡 Ex scottish & southern 110 Td5 van (shed) with PTO driven winch (L-R special vehicles)
Before that, Disco 1, Freelander 1, 26105382 80" with a 1600cc (not much slower)

That's what I did when my euro box headlamp failed. The Guy who changed the headlamps really struggled. It just depends whether you want to trust your vehicle to a Halfords expert? I did and I have to say the Guy was very diligent and explained why my Ford Focus headlamp was so difficult to change and what he needed to do to get the plastic housing re-fixed correctly. Did I just get lucky?

I had a couple of Skoda Octavia's and replacing head lamps was literally two clips, the headlight pushed out on runners and then there's loads of room, but I got told by a main dealer in Ellesmere Port (when I popped in whilst I was away for work) that it was a nightmare job and needed to be booked in for half a day to do it. The service receptionist at my local main dealer in Norwich popped out and changed the lamp in a matter of seconds.

I always get my MOT done at Halfords and never had an issue and they haven’t ever tried to push anything either. In fact a couple of years ago I had an offer of a free MOT if I bought £30’s + worth of goods off the site.
So I did, some Meguiars car cleaning stuff I always use anyway and the MOT was done for free and a straight pass as well too.

They also aligned my LED headlights perfectly at my request also at £15.
Something LR’s “technicians” failed to do properly for £45 hence my reason for going elsewhere I.e. Halfords.

Rolling Eyes

I would imagine many can associate with Defender enthusiasts and probably is a breath of fresh air compared to many a shed of a vehicle they often can see I expect.

That being said, there is no where near as many junk heap cars around on the road as there used to be.

Main dealers have far too many so called experts and no where near enough experience. I’d go so far as to say many don’t want to get their hands dirty..

I’d much rather stick to 4x4 specialists like D44. When there is passion, there is pride and quality of service.
That’s what is required if you care for your Defender as a keeper. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
