Has anyone had any experience on these spotlight brackets which fix onto the bulkhead? I can't see how they fix onto the bulkhead as it says no drilling or cutting required?
https://www.firstfour.co.uk/product/bulkhe...nder-pair/ Seems like a good mounting option while still allowing the vent flaps and bonnet to be opened. Many thanks BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group |

The intention was to fit some amber flashing lights on there for 4x4 response duties. I would prefer not to drill the roof.
I have an a bar for driving lights.

Years back on my first 90, I had the standard "lucas"/LR reversing light (the round type with the grille and handle on the top), I had a pair of these, one each side of the screen, "coz I thought it looked kool"....
Funnily enough I was looking through some old pictures today and saw it, and immediately thought how cr@p it actually looked and remembered how utterly useless they were. As said above, they illuminated my wings and bonnet perfectly. not much else. Bolted under the screen hinge brackets. |

It is, however, the location of the sidelights on one of my 80"s (an idea bizarrely copied by the exceptionally hideous Fiat Multipla).

I have had floodlamps located in a similar position on my previous LR's (S111 SWB V8 & 101FC) and found it to be an excellent location.
With roof mounted lights I found that they reflect off the bonnet. When off-roading, bumper mounted lights tend to get covered in muck. Bulkhead mounted lights were at the perfect height to give good illumination but also kept reasonably clean, also they were perfectly positioned to provide excellent illumination under the bonnet if required (on the S111 at least). For off road or work light use they are actually in the perfect position as it allows you to offset the beam slightly to illuminate the sides of tracks and obstacles at the side of the vehicle. 99% of tractors also have worklights in a similar position - just below the windscreen as it also prevents glare off the bonnet. roof mounted work lights can create an issue with this
