That was a great sound, I remember it more from railway stations rather than airports though. James

And there was always one of the little flaps that was stuck so the word or number was impossible to read
Never realised that they weren't there anymore? Something that was taken for granted and is now no more  |

Cant recall the last time I honestly remember seeing one (and some of my younger colleagues have never seen one), but evoques memories of being a child visiting New Street station with some friends. I used to commute to London Bridge. The platform clocks were the 7 segment types. Very relaxing listening to the ticking noise while waiting for the train.

I remember these as well & nostalgia. I reminisced about them with our son who was born in 93, they form one of his earliest memories from ’94. We both agree that they were good. Besides them being visual, the sound was also useful for attracting attention. I cannot recall recently seeing a working one although I have seen some retired or broken ones in recent years.
