I just opted for a set of stainless pistons and new genuine seals. Nothing wrong with the actual Calipers on mine though. Just a couple sticky pistons. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

From what I was led to believe (by my local parts shop) the majority of "new" brake callipers for Defenders and pre-Disco 3 are in fact reconditioned items so I expect you will be just fine with Britpart callipers. Take the above as you like, but I have had Britpart callipers on Miffy for four years now and they are still A-OK. Had Britpart drilled and grooved discs on for a good three years as well. All good and Miffy is a heavy beast with her cage on so they get a good workout. Never had a problem with any Britpart item. Now Bearmach on the other hand, eeeshk does the TD5 in tank pump make a lot of noise... Straight out of the box too... Should have gone with a VDO item... |

I really cannot think of any circumstances under which I would consider fitting Britpart calipers to any vehicle of mine.
I accept that many people have good experiences with the brand, I have not, and I do not recall ever having bought a Britpart component which was wholly satisfactory, and some components have been entirely useless (for example hub nut which don't fit the stub axle). I have had unsatisfactory parts from other suppliers, but no other source has managed to supply such a high proportion of duds. As for a safety-critical part, or a part critical to the reliability of the vehicle, I think Hell would freeze over before I went down the Britpart route. |

My father had a saying, "You only get what you pay for, if you buy cheap then that's what you get".
You have to remember you rely upon them to stop your vehicle every time you drive it. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

clearly if you live at the bottom of a very steep hill its not a problem as gravity will stop you on the way up

Specified Zeus to be fitted on mine, together with genuine seals. Zeus are in Dunkeswell so quite convenient for you I would think?
