Success!!
had a look under the bonnet and couldnt see any frayed wires from the ecm, (probably because theyre in the plastic sleeve duuuh) so just double checked it was connected properly and gave the sleeve a little shake, replaced the fuse and bobs your uncle, we have lift off! thanks for the help, feeling satisfied with myself not having to take it to the garage for once! |

i have good look at this loom and find out wont the problem is and make permnet fix
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge brown wire ( A) go to the holding fuse connector Co448 also has ground wire in the same plug i have seen them shorted out and blowing that fuse connector Co162 also has ground wire in the same plug i have seen them shorted out wire can over heat do to a fault at lose insulation shorted out / chafing wiring also lose insulation shorted out in side split conduit wire to wire connector Co411 also has ground wire in the same plug connector Co 2518 also has ground wire in the same plug Last edited by dorsetsmith on 29th Jun 2018 5:17pm. Check that engine harness carefully. They are notorious for chafing at any point where they touch the engine or are secured. If you're lucky, a fuse blows, but the main 100A feed from alternator to battery is in that harness and if that grounds your vehicle will spontaneously combust.

Looking at the posted wiring schematic - the designers of the engine management see fit to equip it with 2 power inputs - in case one fails. Land Rover then connect them together and to a common feed thereby undoing all that effort and creating a single point of failure.

well it seems this is going beyond my comfort zone so best just taking it to my local garage and explaining and letting them give the once over to make sure its all okay

It's because it's a Ford Transit Engine harness being grafted into an existing Defender TD5 body harness - and it was done on the cheap. |
