I had Coopers St on a D3, they were ok and not much choice back then on 17" rims. However they did not wear aswell as BFG's and the side walls were not as strong.

So I didn't even consider them for the 110.

This is a good reason to get a MT if you actually take your vehicle offroad. Sometimes you just cant tell how soft things are until you are stuck in it!!!

I can recall a moment in Wales on an offroad trip when we were driving across the top of a field that was on an angle with tree roots on one side and a huge drop down to the valley on the other. It looked fine and so we walked it just to make sure. It was fine. However, as soon as the Land Rover put its big foot down, the back started sliding all over the place and we were really close to losing the vehicle down a VERY steep drop through a valley. The vehicle would most certainly have been written off and big injury to the occupants.
I had another moment on the same trip where 3 vehicles were up to their footwells in gloop and the chassis got sucked in. It took us 2 hours to get 3 vehicles moved 45 yards, it was that bad. Well, it also got dark on us too!!!

I run BFG muds and would not consider running anything else. I drive like a complete loon on many occasions in both the wet and dry and once you get used to how they handle they are fab. I wont go into any detail of the experiences here as I will most certainly incrimiate myself, but suffice it to say they worked fine.

I have had 3 Defenders now running them and not had a single problem yet. Build quality has always been A1 and I have put them through hell. I actually had one young oaf throw a very large glass bottle under the truck when I was driving along and I could not stop in time or swerve, so I was forced to drive over it. It just blew up (made a cracking noise!!) and I pulled over to clear up the mess, expecting the worst. Nothing. Absolutely no damage to the tire, only a 20 minute delay cleaning up the glass.

Their rigid sidewalls also help reduce roll in the tire too and you get very good mileage. My last truck (mate now owns) has now covered 40k on the BFG MT's and they still have oodles of tread left, which is quite surprising as it gets lots of on and offroad driving. I have put 20k on my current ones and they look as new.

Would love to be able to take you out and show you what they are capable of on the road, but I doubt you would fancy a day trip to the Isle of Wight just for that!!!

7.50 good tyre for mud
we all seem to like big tyres for mud
smaller the better Thumbs Up

wide tyre offer a good look wide tyers are good for floatation
stabillity,
Narroe tyres are good where traction is required in muddy conditions NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

I have narrow Michelin XPC 7.50x16 tyres and find them quite good in mud & snow, but noticeably not as stable on-road as the 265-wide BFG ATs as fitted to my previous Defender.
My next tyres will be BFG ATs again - but probably narrower 235/85s - I hope an improvement on-road over the Michelins, without sacrificing the mud+snow ability of a narrower tyre.
They don't look as good as a wider tyre, but I'll get over it.

It's pretty obvious. It could be a Humvee as well. No toothy tires who ever you are -- no bloody offroad.

Can you guys get Mickey Thompson tyres over there? I haven't heard of anyone using or suggesting MT MTz's but they are brilliant tyres. They are muds - but they are also great on road and folks over here are reporting 80, 000km out of a set. Love mine.

I run 265/75 on 16 X 7 inch rims with positive 20 offset - keeps 'em legal.
