Advice please, installing a sub to standard XS alpine radio
Hi can anyone offer advice, I've installed a sub to my 15 plate XS with the alpine head unit. I couldn't find a way of tapping into the blue/white wire for the remote turn on feed so I've just attached it to a switchable live off the 12v plug socket. Now when I turn the car on I get a loud pop from the sub, I'm told it's because the amp is getting power before the head unit is and I need to fit a remote turn on delay, I've found these on eBay but there's no clear instructions, are they fairly straight forward to fit? Or is there a better way? My knowledge of what to do ran out after the basic install unfortunately lol! Thanks! 2009 Defender County Hard Top (gone 😞)

Can you not just use the remote wire on the back of the headunit? If you have no other ice I can't see why it would be used already. Ray

There wasn't one there weirdly! The blue/white wire which is amp remote/aerial raise according to the schematic was only going into the head unit in the block connector, no loose end or other connection there, I can only presume it's part of the factory wiring, and I'd have to tap into it which there wasn't enough room to do so? 2009 Defender County Hard Top (gone 😞)

What do you mean by tap into it? The wire should come out of the plug in the back of the headunit and maybe run into a multi plug then usually out the other side to nothing. Ray

Yeah for some reason it goes into the block but doesn't come back out? There's no loose end to connect to like normal Question 2009 Defender County Hard Top (gone 😞)

If it goes into the block then just cut it and put a terminal on. Ray

It's just suddenly dawned on me why it's connected, would there be the plug under the cubby box for the extra Sub option? I thought this wasn't available on the 90 only the 110 or could it be there? I'll check when I have chance 2009 Defender County Hard Top (gone 😞)

No plug in my MY14 90 XS so had to wire from scratch. Cheers, Guy.
