Hot hand brake
All,

Does any of you had experience or heard of hand brake handle getting so hot that it can not be hold?

On my 130 2008, when i drive more than 40 km and at sustain speed (100 to 110 km/h) the hand brake handle start to be so hot that my left leg (RHD) sustain a few burn already.

Any experince is welcom. The dealer did mentioned a similar problem with TD% due to earthing problem on other vehicle. Stephan

Definately not the case on mine, I would notice when I wear shorts, as I am sure, like everyone myleg sits against the handbrake lever.

I would get it checked again!

Yep, also had it on mine,, long Motorway run, after 30.40 mins,,

Try it with the window closed,, with it open, the air/heat get dragged up through the seat box !! California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Hello Stephan. The same thing happened to me when I drove to Kruger park in october. I was a bit concerned at first but the next day it was cool when I was driving around the park. I think the problem that we both have is that our roads radiate so much heat in summer and when we drive at a high speed the heat radiates from the hot road surface and the whole transmission system gets so hot that the heat eventually radiates to the hand brake lever etc. I hope this helps.

Regards

Anthony

Dundubasher,

Thanks. I do think there is something to do with heat (road or ambient) I have seen that if the ambient temperature is below 25 C then the hand break does not heat up. Not sure if it is radiant heat or expensiontion and tolerance playing up.
