SVX subwoofer install
Morning all,

Has any one any pics of the installation of the Clarion subwoofer in an SVX? I want to add some bass to the stereo in my XS and have found where to buy the exact subwoofer kit from, I would just like to replicate the SVX install. DG's PDF manual seems to show it underneath the cubby, but I'm sure it's not there.

It certainly says it is;
"The Clarion® SRV313 sub-woofer is located on the cabin floor below the center cubby box and is secured to the floor with two self-tapping screws."

Interesting, I've been looking for a safe way to hide one for a while, I would guess the cubby box has a false bottom?

Can you share where you have sourced the sub from?

If it is only the sub that is extra on an svx I would all to get one as the sound from the svx unit is really good.

Might there be an amp some where ?

It's a powered sub, so has a built in amp, the workshop manual doesn't mention an additional amp for the other speakers.
So far as mounting goes, it looks like there are a couple of brackets that go around the sub to support the cubby box (see page 914), I'll have a go at making some up and post pics of the job.

SVX90 - any chance you can post a photo of the sub in place under the cubby box please.

Dont bother.

The Sub takes up a good chunk of the cubby and just booms and booms. If you put your phone in one of the drinks holders then the sub picks the signals up and the noise drives you mad.

First thing I did when I bought my SVX SW was junk the sound system and I fitted a Becker Cascade 7944,IPOD adaptor and two amps to power a pair of 6x9 speakers behind in rear seats in enclosures, and 6x9 woofers under the front seats.I replaced the dash speakers with Kenwood units and the sound is now just about bearable. 2009 SVX 90 Station Wagon

I fitted the Clarion SVX Sub into my XS cubby box. Took a bit of tinkering to do but was worth the effort in my opinion.
I will post some pics of how I did it if anyone is interested.

I do agree with 5wh, I had to add some 6X9's to the rear to boost the midrange because the factory fit speakers just couldn't
hack it once the sub was installed.

Thanks guys. Theres some really useful information there. Im glad I didnt just dive in and buy one and fit it. Maybe it would be better fitting it to the back of the cubby then (facing into the load space).

I would not want to pay and fit the standard SVX sound system,,, would be disappointed with the quality
I had to look twice to see if mine was working !!!

The cubby has a false floor, (and false front for the matter for the interior lamps) that rob a fair bit of room,,

Tubular sub-woofers
Safety issues aside, has anyone tried putting tubular subwoofers up against the curve of the roof (just past the alpine window towards the rear)?

Most probably, when a few miles have been done,, as i said, did not rate the sound quality that much better than the std XS spec set up anyway California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1
