I'll post up photos this weekend but I'm having a custom one similar to Black Sheep's fabbed up as we speak. I'm going to see it tomorrow AM before it's welded on.

Haven't seen it yet but Chris is a superb fabricator and might be willing to do more of them but said sales have to go through me as he can't be bothered!

Mine's a 300Tdi 110 but he's just been building it as he goes. Ed

Some teasers, popped in to see it today before Lucas welds it onto the chassis.

All 5mm but with some strengthening plates for the towbar area. We're only drilling the necessary holes so less areas for rust to attack.

When I got my Blacksheep x-member I got a plate made up with 6 captive nuts to sit behind the tow bar mount so I can replace the towing setup without having to fiddle about trying to get nuts up behind the x-member for the bolts. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Recently Clive did start doing a nut plate, unfortunately it seems that he no longer does any of it!

@plumpmoose

If you fancied a cross member like the one I've just had done then I'd be more than to arrange something for you?

Mine's a 300Tdi 110 but the rear should be the same. I'd imagine mounts and potentially fuel bracket are different?

It's difficult to say but from the prices I've seen from Black Sheep then this would be comparable. I had a bigger bill because although I dropped the tank and electrics for them they still did the removal of the old one.

In summary everything 5mm steel with reinforcement for the tow bracket. They could quite happily weld the nuts in place for the tow bar if that's what you wanted. In fact anything is possible. Ed

Exploring the local option atm, but let me have the details. Is there a way to design out all the places that mud and damp like to reside? Only really need the box bit to hang the mudflaps. No need for the other 'enclosed' areas.

What I've designed has a couple of less places than the Black Sheep Ones I've seen. It's a purely open back (or front depending on how you look at it). The BS one appeared to have plates in the corner which I've removed, the reinforcing brackets for the seats in my CSW I was planning on simply bolting straight through, although have some box section to act as spacers if I need them.

Only holes that have been drilled are for the tow bar and soon a couple more for the corner brackets / wheel carrier. I'll try and get some decent photos of the guts of it tomorrow. Ed
