Installed the gas strut last night, and having an issue with the fit.
Strut is the Post '02 model, rear door and door card are MY2014. Installation was simple and straight forward, installed the new bracket and strut, works perfectly without the door card in place. However once the card is fastened, the strut cartridge pushes out on the card, popping out the bottom anchor. It happens as the door is about half way closed. 1st thought, flip the strut 180, so the cartridge is on the end closest the vehicle (oddly MUD UK's instructions show it this way, Nakatanenga's instructions show the opposite), same result. It seems the strut is pushing on the vertical edge of the recess of the card (see circled red area in the photo). Strut is riveted in exact as per the instructions, as are the 2 pivot heads. Anyone encountered this before??  it's a Landrover thing...

Yes, on both the ones I brought. Couldn't get over it to be honest and have just put up with it.

Funny... how they don't mention THAT in the brochure....LOL
Thinking a work around may be to have the hole in the bracket slightly closer to the door, so it's not going to stick out so far at mid span. There's still some clearance room. Hmmm.... it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |

I have the old version for the old door 200tdi, I now have a puma rear door made my own fixing flat plate and works great

Have you got the correct number of spacers on the check fixing point. I fitted one to a 2011 90 in 2014 and had no trouble with the door card. Mine was possibly an earlier version though.

I have the exact same issue on my MY14 90. I emailed the guys from Nakatanenga and Peter told me to heat the door card in the affected position with something like a hair dryer and gently bend it to fit the strut. It's all about 1-2 cm.
To be honest, I tried that and it didn't work too well. I was able to get it to a point where the bottom anchor isn't popping out anymore, but there's still a 5mm gap between the door and the door card. Maybe something with a little more heat would help.  . _____

I think my plan is going to be to fabricate a new bracket for the strut to door end. When I look at the position of the cartridge, there is ample space between it and the door when it's at the closest point, room to fix the problem. I don't want to start grinding or warping a 6 month old $400 doorcard.
Frustrating to pay good money for something that obviously has fit issues from the get go. Disappointed to hear that the manufacturer can only say "modify your door card" Aren't they supposed to be making their products to fit our vehicles? ...other than the fit issue, it does the job quite well. it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |

Without knowing the exact fitment issue (and having no qualms over cutting/modifying any parts of my interior) it isn't easy making a product fit into a space that was never intended for it, which could explain some of the fitment issues.

I also have the V2 but have had no such problems, fitted to a 2007, one of the best mods to date.
I agree suppliers response should never be to alter the car to accommodate there part though. |

Perhaps the 2.2 and 2.4 door card is different?..
No probs with my 2.4 either. |

I have one of the earlier ones that fit lower down, wouldn't be with out it.
Had it for about 3 years and not a single issue. 
Yes, if you have a jockey wheel when towing like I occasionally do it can be a bit annoying but a very small compromise to live with. Every other thing is a psoitive. Perhaps like suggested carry something to place on the jockey wheel, to protect the door. Personally I don't find it much of an issue to worry.  |

06 Td5 Fitted the MUD supplied v2 version and have had no problems fitting or use. Good mod, holds the the door firmly , big help when loading her ladyships wheelchair.
I moved the trailer jockey wheel to get clearance. |
