Advice please
Spent the best part of yesterday evening & today fitting & wiring up my roof spot lights & work light

I had bought two off the shelf spotlight wiring looms & two Land Rover spotlight switches plus a waterproof connection so I could disconnect all when/if I ever took the roof rack off

Pleased with that problem is when I Turn the lights on they flicker !

If just 2 are connected fine but if all four they flicker - thought it was perhaps the earth so earthed direct to battery.

Any bright ideas

Cheers

Paul

Ps they are speaker led lights wired in series & cable I have used is a higher load as is for normal spot lights & light cable came with the lights[/i] 2020 P300 HSE

Slightly of topic, But where did you get the switch surrounds... I know Mcman was going to do them... But I've not seen/heard anything from him... I need a single version of the same thing..

Cheers

Paul, assuming that you have wired a pair of lights in series, times two and assuming engine running you will have a maximum voltage of 14.6 volts across the lights, engine off maximum 12.6 volts.

Now 14.6 volts across two lights in series will put 7.3 volts across each light. Now most LED lights have a operating voltage range of about 9 - 32 volts.

So if wired in series I am not surprised they flicker as the voltage is below normal operating voltage range. In fact I am surprise they work at all wired in series.

See what happens when wired in parallel.

First four do the double one here

But I don't think they do a single. Ray

I used existing top part of the wiring loom from Andy - mcma1 - so not sure what I have done wrong when it worked on Andy's car !

I have a single switch holder that Andy sent me pm with you address & I'll send it to you.

Will speak to Tim in Monday & see if he can sort out a lion that works !

Perhaps need to run another power supply up the snorkel

3 work fine 4 they flicker & last one is dimmer !

Thanks for all the input Gents

Cheers

^^^^ Agree, first thing I noticed.
Definitely want parallel not series wiring, as Brendan mentions it reduces the voltage a lot.
