I've just bought a Defender and have called 4 companies for insurance quotes. The quotes are all over the place. The cheapest being approximately £240 and the most expensive from A-Plan around £800!

Java,
Did you speak to the Thatcham Office? A-Plan were by far the cheapest company I found that would cover all the mods and green laning, but you need to speak with their Thatcham Office |

OK, so maybe I misunderstood.
I tried my local A-Plan office at the time, and the quote was high - I kind of assumed that A-Plan was A-Plan. Does it really make a difference using the actual Thatcham office? Moles |

Yes - apparently so. Doesn't make sense but honestly try the Thatcham office on the telephone number here.

I called the number on here for A-Plan. Clare called me this afternoon after seeing my post. The original quote of circa £800 was for social, domestic and pleasure use. She re-looked at it and can now insure the Defender on a commercial policy for £246.80. I now have two comparable quotes so just need to decide who to go with.

It's a different style of policy, it works better for Java's personal circumstance. The original quotation was incorrect, im glad he posted so I could check the quotation. Another set of eyes can often find a solution to problems.

But had he took A-plan up on the quote they would have gladly took his money 
Based on this if I was the OP I would place my business elsewhere. Clemmo Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow....
