Faultcodes
Hi,

I'm on holiday and it feels that the car is more sluggish and also fuel consumtion increased (8km per litre)
I just fitted goodyear wrangel Mt/r tyres and a roofrack so this could contribute to it, but was not certain.
Therefore i checked for faultcodes and found the following codes:
0100
0299
0404
1103

I was thinking the Egr valve, but it's doing the chakka chakka noise and no Mil illuminated.

Any ideas?

0100 is related to MAF sensor, poss disconnection ?
0299 is turbo underboost
0404 is an old favourite, EGR range. most common [and meaningless] 'fault' out there
Can't find a 1103 ???

Clear them all and see what reappears in a few days ....

Good guide here, just put in your code and it gives you an explanation and possible causes/checks Thumbs Up

http://www.obd-codes.com/ Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

I think off the top of my head, but don't quote me that 1103 is MAF related also.

It's also widely considered that EGR codes can cause MAF codes but not vise versa.
If no MIL I wouldn't worry at all, but I wouldn't delete the log of DTC's.

Correct, 1103 is MAF sensor signal higher then expected Wink

Need to delete to see if any re-appear, how else will you know if they are genuine faults or just 'nuisance' triggers .. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

If they reappear wouldn't that trigger the MIL.
Suppose only a continuous fault would trigger the MIL though not a constant intermittent.

Not necessarily, mine sometimes goes in to limp without lighting the MIL, sometimes the other way round and sometimes both together.

If it's causing issues then I'd suspect the EGR valve, if not then I wouldn't panic. New EGRs are about £150-£200 plus fitting (not technically difficult, but very fiddly), getting the EGR system disabled and blanked is about £120 and removes a common fault.

yesterday drove around 100 km and only the following fault codes showed up again.

p0404
p0100

but it seems that the car is running better, also fuel consumption better now.

so i"m expecting the EGR valve.

Did it give you any further info such as 'restricted' 'stuck open' or similar?

It would likely be one or the other, if running better I'd imagine it could be sticking closed.

Have you been able to try any additive at all?

no further info, only the 2 DTC's

did not use any additives, but drove 700 km, 500 km and tomorrow again 750 km. So may be the long distance is cleaning the EGR valve a bit

It would do, short journeys aren't good with the EGR.
Similar with the DPF I believe too.

Today came back from Italy. The journey went very well and fuel consumtion was ok now.
But when arrived af home the shukka shukka noise was very loud and strange.
So now 100% sure it is the Egr valve. luckely I was home already Very Happy
Will contact the dealer for replacement.
Thanks for al the replies.
