2007 Puma 2.4 TDCi replacement battery
Hi everyone,

My Puma 2.4 needs a replacement battery. Any advice will be most welcome to cover issues such as preferred brand, capacity (in AH?), premium or standard, warranty duration (varies from 3 to 5 years) and good suppliers.

Thanks in anticipation.

I have just bought a new battery for my 300tdi from a company called Tayna and the service was brilliant. Next day delivery and I must have ordered it at gone 2pm.

I bought an Enduroline (https://www.tayna.co.uk/19001340-Enduroline-Battery-for-Land-Rover-P9037.html) and it looks more than capable with the specs and it has central terminals to keep it away from the seat box.

Cheers

Any 019 size battery will fit the Puma, earlier Defenders had a clamp around the top of the battery and used a different size. That quoted above may not be a good fit in the battery tray despite saying it is for Landrover on the Tanya website.
Other options are https://www.tayna.co.uk/Type-019-Varta-Sil...P3127.html , good price with a 5 yr warranty, for convenience but not price http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-bla...ery-hsb019, also with a 5 year warranty - I have one of these fitted to my Defender (previously in my D3) and all seems good even at -10. Another https://www.tayna.co.uk/EA1000-Exide-Premi...P7488.html with 4 year warranty.

If I was replacing the battery now i'd use the Varta one.

I'd use a Varta one too, but if you've got a good local auto electrical place pop in there and see what they have.

It's worth doing that IMO because even the best batteries go wrong sometimes, and they're a faff to change if you aren't local. We use Fakenham Auto Electrics who have good prices and good service, we've had a Varta go wrong recently and that was a very easy swap with them. Obviously I'm not suggesting you come all the way to Norfolk, but if a small town like ours has a decent place like that they must exist elsewhere too Laughing

I have only bought Varta for the last 15 years or so, never had a problem with them and seem to be long lasting.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

I was tempted by the Varta battery but in the end Halfords had a Type 019 Yuasa Black series with lifetime warranty. It was a bit more expensive at £159 but since I'm keeping my truck I reckon they'll be giving me a new one in 7 or 8 years time! Another advantage is they are 5 minutes away so easy to arrange a swap if the battery develops a fault.

Once again cheers for the advice Thumbs Up

Hope you have some paperwork on that and when you pull it out of the drawer in 7 years time the words have not completely faded off the receipt!
