As the dash will be apart you could fit new wheelboxes for peace of mind, always worth a small collection of screws/fixings and check all your gauges/warning lights as bulb replacement will be easy with it removed. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I replaced the wheel boxes last year. TBH I was hoping to leave the dash in place as its just
the outside of the bulkhead / wing mirror area.. Planning on buying a repair section that includes the vent surrounding. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

In that case lots of cavity wax to soak the internals whilst the bulkhead is cut open, also a weld through primer is good if you want a little extra protection on the repair. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Another thing to add to the wheelboxes whilst the dash is out, if you haven't done it allready, do the double washer set up with standard jets in both the holes where the wipers are driven when LHD. Plus you could put some pipework in from the heater box to give you side window demisters.

Cavity wax before you weld is probably not a good idea ...

I wish those repair panels had come out before I did my bulkhead repair - would have sped it up no end!
Don't fill it with wax until after the weld has been done or it can catch fire inside and that would be disastrous. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |
