2.4 Tdci odd noise at 2900-3000rpm
Gents,

I notice I have a very odd noise appear at 2900 to 3000rpm. It's like an odd tapping noise but a very pronounced "CH CH CH"

It'll do it continuously if you hold it at that rpm range. I've usually got some idea what various noises or oddities are but this one has me stumped. I thought maybe, wildly stabbing in the dark it could be egr related as it a similar noise to the one you get after switching the ignition off.

Any ideas Embarassed

Check security of intercooler hoses, clips and for evidence of splitting. Also check your Catalytic convertor heatshields for security too.

Thanks for the pointers, I'll do this tomorrow when I remove the fold down steps and report back. Hopefully something simple for a change Mr. Green

Hi

We had similar on a well maintained 2007 150k example. Turned out to be camshaft, lifters badly worn and timing chain tensioner. There was also debate about oil pressure but I cannot remember if they changed the oil pump.
