If I remember correctly you need a 10mm gap between the top of the glass and the underside of the rain gutter to allow for the fitting of roof bars and roof racks.

So care would be needed if DIY fitting.

On white 90 with VGS fitted glass we have no issue with Rhino Rack roof bars.

Mine was originally a County Hardtop, so no trim panels for the sides.
(bonus points for anyone who can identify the forum member's 110 seen through the LandyGlass!)

And to answer the query about roof racks, mine already had the Patriot rack on it, but there's more than enough clearance to fit the glazing without removing the rack:
