I think they are a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

I became fed up with the amount of crud that became lodged in the filler recess, getting filthy every time I filled up, and didn't want the risk of crud entering the tank. Therefore, to my mind, it solved a problem that very definitely did exist.

That being said, I use my Defender for the purpose for which it was (almost) designed, ie it spends time off road and in filthy conditions, and it doesn't get washed regularly because I have neither the inclination nor the time.

If you are one of the folks who exercises your inalienable right to buy one of the world's most respected vehicle to use soleley (or predominently) on the road, or can afford the time to was it regularly and keep it spotless, then you probably don't *need* and Defendoor, but that doesn't mean that there aren't those for whom it is a considered purchase and really does do a useful job.

The army use summut similar for Arctic Defenders,a bit of canvas and some velcro.
Nowt worse than trying to fill up to find the cap frozen solid thanks to another well thort out lr, mud/snow trap.So to guarantee a snow free winter, buy one Rolling Eyes, also snow cowl .
Ignore the price, see em for a few quid plenty of times...or make yer own with some canvas and er, velcro.

I'm more than happy that I put one on mine. I've just given a lift to a chap who was moving kit from one end of his farm to the other and if I was off to get some diesel now I wouldn't have to dig out the filler cap

Plus I find that having to physically put the cover on has stopped me from forgetting to put the filler cap back on especially as you can see that the cover is on in the door mirror before you drive off the pump forecourt Thumbs Up

Changed rear dampers / shocks over.
All gone back to genuine bushes too, everything perfect and fingers crossed for Friday's MOT.
Aggravating to think they'll have to come off again though soon to change springs over. Neutral

Replaced the springs and shocks all round with new "take offs" courtesy of CSK and Twisted. It has made a marked improvement to the 13 year old and 85000 mile items I took off. The vehicle sits well over an inch higher now both front and rear. I decided to fit the spring isolator a from a discovery at the front but can't say I have noticed any difference! 2002 110 td5

Removed the engine cover to check if the leak from the front cam seal has stopped, and so far looks good. 1999 Defender TD5 110
