rear door a long way off fitting :(
Hi,

I have a nice rear door from a Puma to fit to my 110 (TD5) on trying to assemble today with new hinges I have found it hits in the top right hand corner of the door frame. There is a large gap towards the hinges at the top of the door which goes to nothing by the time the door reacher the other end of the frame.

The striker also does not engage which makes me think that the bodywork is really badly aligned. Any tricks to get this all square? I am pulling my hair out having had the door resprayed now.

Thanks

James

The problem is that they are hand made, so they hold the door in the hole and drill the holes for the bolts to match the car. You could elongate the holes slightly as it should not take much or try and pull at wider gap at the bottom to lift the door slightly as there should be some adjustment. Ray

Are you new hinges Genuine or aftermarket?

I fitted a rear door a couple months ago for a friend, the aftermarket hinges were off by 1/4 inch!! The door would not fit with those hinges in place. Had to use the old set temporarily, and get Genuine replacements.

they are not genuine but the old door hinges are mega loose which makes me think they were wound right out to give enough play to fit. I tried to order genuine hinges but they turned up in a blue bag !

I might bore out the holes on the hinges with the pillar drill to see if that gives enough adjustment whilst waiting for replacement hinges.
