Anyone running the Cooper AT3
Looking for a change, anyone have knowledge of the performance of these please? Currently only £83 in 265/75 flavour on 4x4 Tyres 
Ta Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

If I was looking for a different tyre for my Land Rover to replace my Michelins, I'd use the Coopers. |

I put mine on 2 months ago (235x85 R16) and so far very happy with them.
Cost was not a consideration, as I just wanted the best for my driving. I did loads of research (for what it's worth) before settling on these. I wanted AT tyres (as opposed to road only) because of my every day short journeys across mud, but slightly more road than off-road biased as stopping safely in the wet is still the highest priority for me, and so far they are reaching my expectations. Very predictable on road, which is what I wanted. Cooper lists them as 60/40 split, which makes sense. Very quiet too. Much better road manners than my previous BFG ATs, which I was disappointed with. Might be fair as they are rated 50/50. However, I'd say so far the Coopers are about equal in mud, so it's a win/win. Winter & snow still to come of course, but they seem to get good snow reviews Stateside on YouTube. |

I know where you're coming from, I'm not a BFG fan either, run them once and was very disappointed compared to the previous tyres. No doubt they were good in their day, but technology moves on .. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Would be interested to hear peoples opinions of what these are like in the winter, more specifically on ice and snow.

We have them on 18" Bowler alloys on our red 90 and I've been very pleased with them on road in both the wet and dry

We went through last winter on them, but to be honest we didn't get any snow here in Devon, there was some ice here and there in patches but they performed as you'd expect - admirably, as good as any other tyres I've had on through the winter.
I read a long write up on an American site about BFG's, AT3's and (I think) Duratrac, the AT3's came out top. Just because they are good value doesn't mean they are cheap tyres, I think Cooper are trying to get into the UK market and have probably had to reduce prices for a new tyre like the AT3 until it gets established. |

Lambley, what load rating are yours, the 116 or the 120 odd rate?
I ask because a few years back I had cooper ST's in 116 and was concerned by how thin the sidewalls were. I'm assuming the higher load rating version has thicker/ stiffer sidewalls? Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Just been out and checked - mine are 112T rated - 118mph, 1120Kg

Of course, on a Shogun, different size so different load rating - doh
265/75 has two load rated versions, 116T or 123/120 ... can't decide on which will be best  Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |
