Series III starter

Sorry to post this here but I am sure someone can help despite being a series question.

Just had an embarrasment where my wife had to come and pull start me using my Toyota in front of traffic Embarassed

Anyway, I pulled the starter and found the two main brushes had come "unsoldered" from the stud to the +'ve line.
My question, can I use soft solder (electric solder) or must I do it at work with silver solder?

Apretiate some advise from the electrical fundis.

Thanks
James

Soft solder will be fine.
As long as it's a good job and makes an efficient electrical connection, it won't get hot.

Rather than shame us all by having a Toyota pull start you, why didn't you just use the hand crank?

crank handle

I managed to get a good bit of solder on and it seems to be starting well again.

The crank handle doesn't fit due to bumper mods. Not that I ever had such a handle
