Not all aftermarket NAS steps are compatible with items such as the Nakatanenga wheel carrier.

Hi Brendan

Is their a definitive list of which NAS steps do fit?

I wish life was so simple as a straightforward compatability list!

Shows a NAS step and the Nakatanenga wheel carrier.

The NAS step must be bolted to the outer most 2 bolt holes in the rear cross member.

There may be a need to trim a bit of the rubber step off. Slightly more awkward if you have chequer plate fitted. You might have to undo all the bolts on the NAS step to move it slightly to get both items to fit

It all depends on how each aftermarket company has shaped their particular version of the NAS step and what scope you have for moving the NAS step.

Ditto with rear bumperettes. Nakatanenga are going to do their own version of rear bumperettes. Have seen the prototype but that needs tweaking a bit so it is right.

Can be a long time between prototypes and production run.

What makes you say that?

I haven't handled an original NAS bumper but the bracing arms for the rear step bumper are very weighty items.

Comparing the two items, I'd guess the tube thickness of the NAS item is significantly less (i.e. hollow) than the diameter of the bar (solid) used on the step bumper and the NAS tube would be more susceptible to bend under a point loading such as hitting a rock off road?

I'm also guessing that they are both designed for the same towing load and therefore evenly matched in terms of normal towing loads and stresses.
