Has anybody gone & 'flocked' themselves?
I'm looking at getting a diy kit and flocking the dash on my 90.
Has anybody had experience with DIY flocking and can recommend any kits?

Greeni, beware the flock.

My grandfather, who was a civil engineer by trade and actually a very clever man, was always coming up with some 'interesting' side line project to compliment his professional life.

In the late 1970s he decided that flocking items was a good side-line business idea.

He bought the equipment, tested it our on a few items and then put some advertisements out in the local papers offering his services.

A chap called him and asked him if he could flock his newly purchased Lotus Esprit... not the interior but the exterior... what could possibly go wrong. Mr. Green

If you believe my grandfather (now deceased) he dutifully warned the chap of the possible issues he could encounter but the chap was adamant that he wanted to proceed with the process. By all accounts, it looked okay when it was done; however, scroll forward a few months and the chap was soon on my grandfather's door step with a Lotus Esprit that looked more like a mangey dog, with bald spots, than a flocked 70's sports car. Very Happy

Whenever I hear someone mentioned flocked finish, I think of that story and my granddad. Thumbs Up

Beware the flock!

Don't know about diy kits but we had the dash of the rally car flocked years ago to stop reflection on the inside of the windscreen. It had to be removed and taken to the 'flockers' the finish was great but its a Censored Censored To clean when it gets dirty!

Again,it isn't a finish you want if you think it's durable,it's extra work to look after it. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
