rear step advice?
My rear step is knackered, its 12 years old and rusted onto rusted bolts.

I want a new one on, could I drill holes next to it and fit the new step there? I was thinking of dremelling it off.

Any advice please? 2001 90 TD5 CSW Alveston Red Manual

If it's a standard fitment it will be bolted into rivnuts in the crossmember, if these won't undo or the rivnuts are spinning you will either have to drill out the bolts & rivnuts and fit new ones. A Dremel is a bit lightweight, my choice of weapon would be an angle grinder to cut off the bolt heads and then grind the heads off the rivnuts and knock them out or drill them out with a suitable drill ....bearing in mind they can have a tendency to spin. Steve.

This is my solution - cheap and simple - assuming you have a towbar...

About £15-£20, galvanized so no rust in the future (I painted my galv one black)

I have the same as Martin, except mine is not galvanised. Bit of rust at 18-months old, but cheap as chips and perfectly placed. Little bit of black ain't and it'll be fine.

I have the double step from Paddocks, bizarrely the galvanized one is the cheapest.

I thought it would be a good idea to mount it on to a spare slider so it was adjustable. That wasn't such a good idea, because the way my slider fitting is attached on to the Land Rover means you can only use a few of the slider pin holes. and with the tow-slider and the step-slider there are only a couple of different places you can put them.

I'm wondering if my tow assemble was fitted with the bolts backwards tbh.
