how much does it lower the height of the ball over a standard ball , doesnt look much , moves ball out which is handy

Can I ask what NAS step you have fitted, is it LR OEM or after market as it looks not to be secured at the end of the rear X member ? Thanks, Mark |

Sorry for the late answer.
The NAS is a OEM LR type delivered as standard on my 2011 Defender. Same type as the on efrom Supacat. Nice motor btw. The difference is 50 mm with a straight type. see images below. Sizes are metric in mm. The new hook is a Westfalia 3 29062600001. Cost in Belgium around 60€. Westfalia does have more options to go even lower if needed. My trailer is slightly nose heigh but not enough to worry and I only tow light.
Still looks not quite right though, I was thinking of rather than messing with trying to get a lower or higher coupling putting larger wheels and tyres on the trailer instead. Mine has flotation tyres on it so I'm assuming they are a bit smaller than normal anyway. I really ordered road wheels but got flotation instead once arrive but went with it. But that's  |

Thanks for your comment Steve.
Consider this. My Def has standard suspension. But with a twin axle trailer only the rear were really touching the road. Normally you should have 48 cm from ground to the center of the ball(hook). But trailer manufacturers advise between 38 and 42 cm loaded. This makes it for everybody a little bit different for me this was the best choice. The purpose of my message is that you can avoid situations with home welded lowering plates in combination with 8.8 bolted hooks and being involved in an accident with children. The solutions I'm proposing is serving me well and is fully road legal. I'm having a good sleep and nothing to worry when things should go wrong. 
And above all it's a very cheap solution. |

I had a similar problem albeit with a standard Dixon bate set up, managed to drop the tow ball by welding drop plates but it still sits a bit high IMO
