Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Tyre Problem
Has anybody seen this type of problem before on these tyres?

Is it a symptom of over or under inflation that is unique to this type of tyre?

Only on roads, out of the four on the truck it's only the front drivers side that has this issue.

Have emailed Goodyear with the photos, maybe they will advise?

Looks to me like a manufacturing defect myself..

Id get a refund if i were you....thats not right. Play the H&S card...get them to put into writing that the continued use wont jeopardise safety....they wont do that...and of they dont they have no option to refund in full sureley or exchange.

If only on road and not rocks / slates then it's defective. That's my view like yours too.

Never trusted Good Year tyres since thousand and thousands of Defenders and-early 90's and 110's and Range Rovers were recalled by Land Rover in the nineties because of a Good Year Wrangler tyre fault. I got five new tyres fitted for free as did most Defender owners but I never felt safe on them.

Probably you have to go to the seller off the tires and they will have to contact Goodyear.
This doesn't look normal to me. Roel

Hi all,

Just a wee update for you.

Spoke to goodyear, I need to send the tire to them for inspection, they will then decide what the issue is?!

So means I need to get a local garage to remove the tyre and send back to goodyear on my behalf for inspection.....

Cheers
Andy

That's their way of saying "Send it to us if you must, but we'd rather you don't so we're being as awkward as possible to try to get you to go away". Had them say a similar thing a while back about a truck tyre... An engine to TDi for!

Yes gum have to agree. The cost of 1 tyre isn't breaking the bank for goodyear. But the PR suggested on here might loose a sale or two. I don't know what's going on with that tyre bit it doesn't look good, or from abuse.

Good luck with it Andy, ask for freight charges to be compensated if proven defective. No harm asking. My Defender and travels

That less service then Vredestein, A Vredestein salesman came to my house to look at my tires.
I still have to get a new set, but I can wait because I had a problem with my wintertires so I don't need them yet.

My other tyres for the disco 3 are Goodyear and just new. Reading this I hope not to have any problems. The previous set was very good so I bought the same ones again. Roel

Hi all,

Totally agree with regards to sending tyre back......hoping I just don't bother.

But currently tracking down a seller in Aberdeen who has a direct account with goodyear.

I'm aiming to buy a new tyre, replace the tyre with the new one and send the old one back to goodyear.

Once it's confirmed a manufacturing defect I should get a free tyre to put as a spare.

It's annoying but, what else can I do really?

Cheers

Hi all,

Tyre removed and sent to Goodyear for examination. I needed to buy a new tyre first so they could get the old tyre back.

Will let you know what the outcome is.

Cheers

I had a fault with some tyres, bfg. Had to send all four back. Local tyre place sent then for me. I took loads of pictures first which was just as well, end result for new tyres, very pleased with the way bfg dealt with it. Cheers
