TYRE TREAD DEPTH
I have the origional General Grabber 235/85/16's fitted to my 90, the fronts are on 5mm the rears are on 6mm
wear is even across the tyre,
Question is at what tread depth should I replace them? they have done 26,000 so I won't be getting them again, And have been offered a set of 4 BFG All Terrains in the same size for £470.00 fitted. so will go for them

Depends what you are intending to do with the vehicle, if its greenlaning then fine if its a bit of mud and hill work might be better with a more aggressive tread. I stuck KHUMO KL71's on my old 90 and they made one heck of a difference in the mud and snow last winter. The road noise was a bit louder but tolerable Tommy

If you're into off-roading/laning you need lots of tread.
I always sell my tyres when the tread is half worn.
If you're a member of a club this is no problem, there's always lots of customers.

If going off road, I would have thought no less than 6mm and 4mm for road.

BFG AT's I believe can do some serious mileage, so you may as well get them on for the winter and sell current tyres while they are still worth a few pounds.

I must admit 26k for those sound very much like there must be something else wrong.

My old dc had them on form new when I sold it, at 4 years old and 39,000 miles on the clock and the lowest tread depth was 8mm I think! Russell

mine have 85 000km (53 000 miles) with about 5 or 6mm tread left...
so 26 000 miles is a bit low!
cheers www.ralton.co.za

Sounds about right 26K with those dims gut I've never rated GG's in the same league as BFG's so I'm biased
