Why don't BFG make an AT pattern 255/85R16?

Current availability issues aside - www.defender2.net/forum/topic37845.html

I would have thought demand for this size and tread pattern would outstrip the MT sales by a massive margin? Every man and his dog with a Defender would be queuing up to buy them and our American cousins would surely love to get this size on their pick-up trucks for better gas mileage and lower noise on those long highway trips?
Maybe that is the problem, if the AT pattern was available then perhaps the MT in the same size is suddenly no longer commercially viable due to much lower sales volume?

I suppose given the choice, I would rather live in a world where the 255/85R16 MT exists without the AT alternative than restrict availability to just the AT tread pattern in that size, but I want to have my cake and eat it! Why don't BFG make both?
